Frequently Asked Questions
Which payment methods do you accept?
Payment is expected upon returning the fresh and clean rugs. We currently accept cash only.
Do I need to stay at home all day when you collect and deliver my rugs?
To help minimise disruption, we will give you a 3-hour time-frame, and we will also call you an hour before we arrive. Please note that as much as we would like to be consistently punctual, we cannot predict traffic and weather conditions.
Should I ever have my rugs cleaned in my home?
The best way to clean natural fibre (wool, cotton and silk) rugs is a full immersion wet wash. Dusting and thorough rinsing are the most important steps in the cleaning process; both of which are impossible with an in-home surface cleaning method. This can lead to ‘soapy mud’ being left in the foundation of the rug, because the soap mixes with the foundation dirt, left behind by a lack of thorough rinsing. This can leave the rug with a sticky feel, which will attract dirt more quickly. It can also lead to premature sun fade and fibre wear.
How effective is rug washing compared to wall-to-wall carpet cleaning methods?
According to an independent test, carried out by ‘CAMRASO’, a British carpet research organisation, ‘in plant washing’ removes 90% of soil particles, while ‘steam cleaning’ removes only 40%. Similar evidence has been provided in work carried out by the ‘International Wool Secretariat’. A number of 100% Wool Wilton carpets were laid on London Transport Silver Jubilee Buses, and soil levels as high as 2.5kg/m2 were recorded. After ‘in plant’ washing the level was reduced to 100g/m2, which corresponds to a soil removal of 95%. At RugCleanic we strive to achieve even better results, and deliver your rugs to you as clean as possible.
How can I protect my rugs?
To preserve the condition of your rugs, they must be vacuumed regularly. If anything is spilled onto your rug try to absorb as much of the liquid as possible, but make sure that you do not rub as this may damage the rug permanently. If you need any help or advice, please call us.
